Coach Green is Burke High School class of 2002 Most Athletic Female. She was a four sport athlete during her time at Burke High playing basketball, volleyball, softball, and track and field by way of high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Coach Green served a captain of the basketball, volleyball, and softball teams for two years. Coach Green was a member of the BHS Region Track and Field Championship team in 1999. I am excited to return to my alma mater as an assistant lady’s basketball coach, but to also assist and support all athletic programs at Burke High School.
Coach Green has a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Francis Marion University (2006) and a Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy from The University of South Carolina (2014). In 2016, she obtained a specialist certificate in Reading Recovery from Clemson University in addition to her Read To Succeed Endorsement. Coach Green was recognized as a 2007 Rookie Teacher of the Year, a Live 5 Golden Apple Award Recipient, Distinguished Reading Teacher Award and many other accolades. Currently Coach Green is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Leadership from Charleston Southern University. Coach Green is a member of the Charleston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and has one son Makell, a future Bulldog.
Coach Green has served many years as an BHS Booster Club member and athletic volunteer. As a player now coach, her philosophy of coaching mirrors the legendary Pat Summit, “More than winning, I believe it’s our job as coaches to develop our players into responsible leaders.” Therefore, Coach Green wants to help develop leaders of today who will impact the world tomorrow.
